Never doubt the power of a woman and her fashion choices…

Pause for a moment and just THINK about what we would do without Google Images…right, it’s terrifying. Well, Google Images wasn’t even relevant up until the year 2000. And the actual person responsible for the birth of Google Images is Jennifer Lopez and her infamous Versace Jungle Dress.

Not only did everyone in the media industry bend over backwards to get a glimpse of this dress, but so did everyone on the internet. Who wouldn’t want to see the newest star in the dress with the longest neck plunge AND highest slit known to man. According to Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt on the creation of Google Images, “Our co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin – like all other successful inventors – kept iterating. They started with images. After all, people wanted more than just text. This first became apparent after the 2000 Grammy Awards, where Jennifer Lopez wore a green dress that, well, caught the world’s attention. At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen. But we had no surefire way of getting users exactly what they wanted: J. Lo wearing that dress. Google Image Search was born.”

To be honest, it’s not THAT surprising. This was at the time when Jennifer was dating P. Diddy, and they were a power couple in the world of fashion. This was also the dress that changed Jennifer’s career and future red carpet events for every celebrity. The dress became the most searched thing on Google in 24 hours, and 15 years ago, that was a BIG DEAL.

I think we all owe a J. Lo a big thank you!!!
