Save Our Scruff And Adopt!!! It's Pet Thursday!!!!

Its the BEST day of the week again because its PET THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!

We love filling your feed with Save Our Scruff updates, because who doesn’t love to see pictures of ADORABLE dogs?? But, if you still don’t know…Save Our Scruff is an organization based out of Toronto, created by Laura Bye. Save Our Scruff focuses on rescuing and rehoming dogs in need into loving homes here in Toronto and the GTA.

First things first… head down on June 14th to have all of your questions answered AND to meet the dogs!!!

NOW, do you know what’s even better? The success stories! These puppies deserve a loving home and that is EXACTLY what they got! Here are their stories:

BANDIT has been adopted and is now in her furever home! Less than a month ago, she was tied to a shack with no food or water. Her new family couldn’t stop playing with her to pose for a picture. We like this better

Take your dog to work day! PENNIE//LOVEY is obsessed with her new mom and vice versa! They are perfect for each other! We are trying to add another addition to this family

JOHNNY BRAVO has been adopted! He’s always been good with the ladies so it’s not a surprise! Congrats!

SPRITE looks good in a collar and leash. This former street dog is loving his furever home! Family, friends, walks and treats!!

VINCENT is enjoying his first day at @unleashedinthecity !!

FRIDAY is now a full-time family dog! She drops-off/pick-ups her favourite kids to school everyday! ? Her new name is CHELSEA!! We wonder what the summer will bring her!

CHEESE has been adopted Her name is now RUBY! ?

SPLISH SPLAH THALIA IS TAKING A BATH!

She is looking for a quiet home where she can observe, relax, and enjoy her humans. She is nervous around other dogs and would like to be the only dog. She will need a patient owner who will help her out of her shell to feel comfortable around doggies and others. She’s a Mexican mix, about 6 years and about 30lbs. She is low-medium energy! She’s looking for a human connection! Is that you?!

SHEENA says HECK YES to this beautiful sunny day. She’s up for adoption!!

MOO is gentle and sweet. She is a American bulldog/lab mix, weighs about 45lbs, and is between 3-5 years old. She is super social, knows herself well and is confident. She is a little hand shy but otherwise secure. She loves people and dogs a like and is so far not bothered by cats. She has a laid back personality but also shows more energy when she’s excited — wagging her tail forcefully and perking up. It’s quite cute. She’s very easy going and is low-key on walks (can pull when she wants to), in the home and around others. She has low-medium energy, only needing a short stroll and then resting by your side. She’s very adaptable and I could really just go on forever about her. I think you should adopt her. She is being fostered in Toronto.

Meet the next Texan.. SINBAD! He is a Pyrenees mix, about 80lbs and is 11 months old. He is a gentle giant with the sweetest disposition. He’s settling in quickly, and is pretty content hanging out in his bed and tossing around toys by himself. He is showing medium energy in foster thus far. With people, he will engage in play when enticed and is super dog friendly — probably preferring to be in their company. He loves a good head rub andeagerly looks for ways to be close to any human. He also doesn’t seem to bark! He needs some leash work as he’s a goof and doesn’t really get it. He likes to zig zag and will need some help learning to not be a sidewalk hog. He hasn’t been around cats yet but is calm energy makes us think he can cohabitate! He doesn’t really know his size so he may not be good around very young children. He is being fostered in Toronto.

Meet LAYLA. She is a German Shepherd mix, weighing around 55lbs and is roughly 1 year old. She loves other dogs and is very social when she’s comfortable! She is still settling into her foster — liking to have some space of her own while getting used to so many new things! She is progressing daily and and is already showing signs of comfort and stability. When in public is very happy with a great temperament and energy level. Even if she doesn’t know you she is still wanting to show you the love she has to give! Since arriving, she has not been tested around cats or kids. She is being fostered in Toronto!

Is this a painting or one of our adoptables?! JOSIE is our new little fawn her foster likes to call her! She is a lovely, relaxed dog who likes to lounge! She loves tummy rubs and following her fosters everywhere. She is a true Velcro dog. She is quiet and observant, at the same time a little bit melancholy. She is not aggressive at all, enjoys to play with other dogs, and warms up to people slowly. She is a little anxious and excites easily. She is also in the process of learning her basic command/manners and will need continued guidance. As well, JOSIE gets uncomfortable in foreign indoor environments, but thrives in the outdoors. She is just settling in and will need someone patient, who will show her the way. She was surrendered to SOS. She is roughly 2 and medium sized! She is a retriever, duck tolling mix! She is being fostered in Toronto.

This Texas beauty is JUNE! She is a German Shepherd/Collie cross, aged 7 and weighs in at a healthy 80lbs. She is doing amazing since arriving and has already adjusted to her foster home. She is so well behaved and super docile. She likes to be around people more than other dogs for the most part – and is definitely a Velcro dog! She is dog friendly but will dominant if provoked. She is although very responsive to commands. She loves rabbits and thus may be good with cats! She is a lover! She is being fostered in Toronto!

WHO WANTS A PUPPY?! BLAZE is another Texan but one of the only puppies! He is a 6 month old Boxer mix. He will be a medium-large breed when full grown! He is friends with everyone he meets. Loves adventure walks and hikes. This dog is perfect for the outdoorsman/woman! A true explorer. He needs a lot of play and stimulus. He is not completely housebroken, but is quickly on the road to be. He will require obedience training. Blaze is very affectionate, and loyal. He’s a great snuggler and doesn’t mind sharing the bed. He is great on his own, and with other dogs of all sizes. He is great with all kids as well but may steal toys. He also has a thing with underwear. … just a fair warning. New name ?#?underwearsnatcher? He is being fostered in Toronto!

TIMMY is a Chihuahua mix, 2 years and is weighing in at just under 10lbs! He looks small but actually has long legs! (?#?lank?) He is a sweet little guy who loves to snuggle. He’s definitely a lap dog with lots of love to give. When it’s time for bed, he likes to burrow himself under the covers and be close to the one he loves.
He loves to go for walks, and will tell you when he’s done by asking to be picked up but is also okay to carry on when it’s not possible. He is a little bossy when it comes to meeting new dogs and is quick to show he’s the one in charge, a little Napoleon through and through. TIMMY would be best in a home where the castle is all his own. Has been great with older kids too. Still has some puppy behaviour when he’s bored, and will find shoes. He is house broken to a degree, and requires frequent visits outside to keep up with it. He’s probably our tiniest Texan and is looking for the right home that fits his needs.

Meet JEB! He is a 7 year old Catahoula Leopard dog, weighing in at a solid 71lbs! He is a recent arrival from Texas! He has quickly settled in and is extremely well behaved! He loves being with his humans and is very affectionate. He waits for permission to do most things; to come up on the couch, to eat his food, or to go into a bedroom. He is pretty good around other dogs but asserts himself over other large males. He is possessive over his toys (growls at submissive dogs) but is getting better. Very trainable, smart boy! He is also completely house trained and great on a leash, although strong (will pull sometimes if theres another dog). Random fact: he is the best dog ever in the car. Know that whole “who is that doggy in the window?!” that’s legit him in the car. So good travel companion! He has medium energy and benefits from one long walk a day. He is dog social but prey driven so should not be in a house with cats!

LAFFY//TAFFY are just the cutest pair we’ve ever seen! They are up for adoption together. They are brother and sister and have been together for all 7 years of their lives. They are odd balls, animal social and are not kid friendly!

TUNA is looking for an EXPERIENCED FOSTER! She is a husky, collie, corgi mix, aged 2 and about 45lbs. She is looking for a home that can provide stability in terms of training. She was found as a stray and has little socialization with other dogs. She ends up getting excited and vocal– not really understanding how to approach or play with other dogs. She is also a puller! She has had little control in her life and has thus learned to take charge. She is very excited about life and just wants to go everywhere quickly. She is also very vocal. She will bark when she wants something (when she’s first left alone/ wants attention). She will whimper and whine and sometimes growl even just to be pet! Her growling is being used as communication and not as a form of aggression. She has some anxiety that has been triggered from her always getting what she wants. She is assertive and needs someone that knows how to take charge of her. She is sort of a bratty teen that is testing the ropes! She does although love to get attention and be loved. She has never had a bond with anyone due to her past. She needs someone to trust. She also likes to cuddle if you’re into it! She knows sit, shake a fin , lay down and is working on dance.

Meet ANNIE! She’s not just ANOTHER dog from Texas.. She’s someone’s perfect match! She is a labrador/terrier mix (making her a ball of fun in pint size!), about 30lbs and 2 years old! She is a lover! She needs to hugged at least once a day and even puts her paws on you when you put her harness on. Hugs before drugs is her motto. She has medium energy, affection (other than hugging) and is submissive. She is totally housetrained and walking well on a leash. She does have some prey drive and will occasionally dart at a squirrel on the street. She is adjusting to life as ‘feline friendly’ but would gladly convert back to anyone who asks She loves playing with dogs and is kid friendly. She loves to sleep on a little blanket she claimed in her foster but also enjoys couch time. She is a barker on walks and to get dogs to play but not so much in the home.

“But if I go out tonight.. Someone might steal my spot on the couch..” JENNY is looking for her forever home! She just arrived from Texas and is adjusting. She’s a mix breed, about 2 and weighs about 30lbs! She’s warming up and enjoying her days relaxing at home, cuddling and playing with her hedgehog toy! She’d make a great companion dog! She is currently weary of children and would do best at a home without. She likes being the only dog or with a less dominant/smaller dog that she can feel comfortable with! She is not cat tested but doesn’t seem to have a prey drive! She is being fostered in Toronto.

Meet JAZZ. This guy is lovely. He is a Jack Russell/Schnauzer cross, weighing 18lbs! Despite his age, JAZZ is always ready to run and play! He’s a real circus guy, loving to show his moves and be the best. He has had 7 years of practice at being the best dog — and it shows through. He’s so well behaved — knowing how to sit, stay, down and shake a paw while also having manners and being great on a leash! He gets along with other doggies and is great with kids! He has not been cat tested but may chase them. He’s not much of a lapdog as he prefers to be running around! Did we mention he’s so far not a barker?! What more could you want! He just arrived from Texas and is being fostered in Toronto!
