WATCH: R. City Talk Songwriting and the Breakout Success of 'Locked Away' with Roz & Mocha

The Thomas brothers, otherwise known as R. City, joined Roz & Mocha live in the KiSS 92.5 studios to talk about growing up in the Virgin Islands, songwriting, and the breakout success of their hit single ‘Locked Away’!

The duo have been writing hit songs for years for some of the biggest artists in the world, including Rihanna’s ‘Pour It Up’, Miley Cyrus’ ‘We Can’t Stop’, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Only’ and many more!

Now, they’ve found success for themselves with their own hit single ‘Locked Away’ that features Adam Levine!

The guys haven’t stopped writing songs for others, but think the reason they’re finding their own success as artists is because their music is unique to them. “We think our music (is) really original to ourselves, and I don’t think anybody else could sing ‘Locked Away’. Now somebody could of sung the chorus, yes you know, but I don’t know nobody else in the music business today that could (sing) ‘If a judge for life me’, I don’t know anybody else,” explained Theron.

Also, the brothers showed love to the music scene in Toronto, praising their producer Cirkut who is from the six, and artists like Drake, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Kardinal Offishall, who the guys are collaborating with on a new project.

“We actually have a group, us and Kardi, called ‘The Island Boy Cartel’ with a couple other Caribbean artists that we put together, and we’re working on a project. Kardinal is a good friend man, that’s the first person from Canada to really embrace us.”
