The Brunswick House, also known as the “Brunny,” has been a popular spot in Toronto since it’s opening but it might be closing down.

The building’s owner has terminated the lease for the bar that’s been around since 1.  After December 31st they will be running month-to-month until they find a new tenant.

The Harbord Village Residents’ Association’s website even mentioned that Boston Pizza is interested in the location at the corner of Brunswick Ave. and Bloor St. W.

The bar has been around since 1876, but recent years have shown a dwindling or support from the community. Tim Grant, the chair of the Harbord Village Residents’ Association, tells the CBC, “while there are many people who remember the “The Brunny’s” golden years, when it was filled with university students and live musicians like Jeff Healey, in recent years police have been constantly called to the bar and there’s a regular spillover on to the street after the bar closes around 2 a.m.”
