Test Out Dog Ownership or Just Get Some Companionship by Borrowing a Dog!

Dogshare, is an Australian based website that will allow you to borrow someone’s dog if you’re feeling lonely or just want to take being a dog owner for a test drive.

Dogshare.com.au is the first ‘dog sharing website.’ Back in January of 2015, Jessica Thomas started Dogshare to help dog owners get help from other owners with the everyday maintenance of owning a dog. But soon non-dog owners wanted to help out.

Thomas said, via Mashable, “Surprisingly I’ve been inundated with requests to open up to non-dog owners, who are just falling over themselves to be able to take someone else’s dog for a walk. When you think of the amount of paid services out there doing the same function, I think it’s really incredible that people will literally volunteer, completely for free, out of their genuine love for dogs.” The official launch for dogless individuals to apply happened a few weeks ago, and the company has received more than 50 applicants in that time.

Thomas also explained the process behind a borrower getting connected with their temporary pup, “Borrower profiles are then made available to Dogshare’s dog-owning community who can connect with suitable ‘matches’ and arrange a local park meet-up. Everyone can test the chemistry and see whether the relationship has legs. Pardon the pun. The borrower gets access to a dog and all the benefits that go with it, while the owner has someone to love and care for their pet when they can’t.”
