The United States Department of Energy issued a statement today to let the world know that they “don’t mess with monsters.”

This announcement comes after the Netflix series “Stranger Things” used the Department of Energy as the main protagonist. They want you to know that they’re not the child hating, monster loving, time warp creating, evil geniuses that ‘Stranger Things’ made them out to be.

Paul Lester, the department’s office of public affairs’ digital content specialist, issued a statement on the companies website. Lester highlighted five points in his blog post:

1. “Hawkins National Laboratory doesn’t exist.”

2. “The Energy Department doesn’t explore parallel universes.”

3. “The Energy Department doesn’t mess with monsters.”

4. “National Laboratory scientists aren’t evil — they’re actually really nice (and smart)!”

And 5. “Lights aren’t powered by monsters or other lifeforms.”

Let’s hope he didn’t draft up this letter while being paid with tax payer money.

If you haven’t watched ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix yet you should probably drop everything you’re doing in life right now and go watch it.

See you in 8 hours!
