The Bowmanville Zoo announced today that Justin Bieber will be hosting a special event on Sunday, August 28th, to raise money for the relocation of the animals at the zoo. They named the event “BFF” or Bieber Family Fun Day.Tickets are also already on sale for $295 each and can be purchased here. BUT… Bieber’s dad says NOPE, not happening.

Jeremy Bieber, Justin’s dad, tweeted that “My family is in no way affiliated or supports any zoo. Nor are we apart of or the host of any fundraiser.” Uh oh…

Justin Bieber does have an odd history with zoo animals and the Bowmanville Zoo. As Durham Region explains, back in July, he ran into a little trouble with Animal Services; “Toronto Animal Services sent the singer a notice of violation in July after receiving complaints from PETA that he “exhibited” lions at two events. Information provided claims the big cats were from the Bowmanville Zoo. The singer was also photographed in May holding a white lion cub at his Toronto concert.”

And then in April, he was photographed with a Bengal tiger, “In April, a photo was posted to Mr. Bieber’s instagram account showing him petting a Bengal tiger at his father’s engagement party. PETA lashed out at the singer after seeing the picture, saying in a statement “Justin Bieber is lucky not to have had his throat torn out by this stressed captive tiger.”

The Bowmanville Zoo has had several controversies or its own and after being in business for 97 years, they will be shutting their doors on October 10th. We’ll have to wait and see if Jeremy just wasn’t filled in on the plans, or if the Bowmanville Zoo is straight up lying.

UPDATE!

The durhamregion.com has tweeted that the Bowmanville Zoo can no longer confirm that Bieber will be attending the event.

** UPDATE **

CBC says that “the Bowmanville Zoo is refunding tickets to a high-priced fundraiser as well the event notice and ticket sales page were removed from the site, and the Facebook post was deleted.”

The Bowmnville Zoo also posted a statement on Facebook ….
