December 2nd marks the 33rd anniversary of Michael Jackson‘s 13-minute video classic, Thriller! *WHOA*

It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100’s Chart at #4 back in 1984 when it was first released and it came in at #3 on the Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Song’s Chart.  Not only was Thriller inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress (the only music video to ever do so) BUT after his sudden 2009 passing, Thriller made the Hot Digital Songs Chart and took on the #2 spot.

Thriller, which was directed by John Landis, had to put a disclaimer at the beginning of the video, explaining to viewers that Michael did not endorse supernatural practices which, based on the video, meant that humans could transform themselves into werewolves.

PLUS … According to Neilson SoundScan, during Halloween, Thriller is the most downloaded song!

Original Air Date – Friday Dec. 2, 1983 on MTV
