The August long weekend is always very eventful in the city with Drake holding his annual OVO Fest, Caribana festivities, the VELD Music Festival and much, much more.

Here’s a few of the fun things happening in the city this weekend!

 

OVO FEST 2017

Drake brings his OVO Fest to his hometown of Toronto for the 8th year.

This year’s festival will include two dates…a warm up date on Saturday at Echo Beach headlined by Machel Montano.

Then, the main event on Monday with Drake, PartyNextDoor, DVSN, Roy Woods and special guests.

VELD MUSICAL FEST 2017

VELD 2017 will feature Major Lazer, Future and Tiesto who will perform at Downsview Park in Toronto on August 5th and 6th.

Also joining this year’s headliners: Migos, Tory Lanez, 3LAU, A$AP Ferg, Frank Walker, 24HRS and many more.

The 2017 show will have a lot to live up to as last year’s event featured the likes of The Chainsmokers, Maritn Garrix, Kygo and deadmau5.

CARIBANA 2017

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival, or Caribana as it’s known to most, his back for its 50th year here in Toronto.

The celebration of Caribbean culture his highlighted by the big parade which takes place on Saturday at Exhibition Place; there’s also the King and Queen Parade that takes place on Thursday at Lamport Stadium.

SCARBOROUGH RIBFEST 2017

As a native of Scarborough for the last 25 years, the Ribfest I have to say is always a summer highlight for me.

The Scarborough Ribfest is in its 16th year and is once again at Thomson Memorial Park and will take place from Friday through the holiday Monday (see the schedule below).

Friday, Aug 4, 2017 from 11:00am – 11:00pm
Saturday, Aug 5, 2017 from 11:00am – 11:00pm
Sunday, Aug 6, 2017 from 11:00am – 11:00pm
Monday, Aug 7, 2017 from 11:00am – 08:00pm

TASTE OF INDIA FOOD FESTIVAL

things to do this weekend - INDIA

 

This is one of those events that I wish was longer than one day, but it just makes the day that much more important.

This free event features over 50 food and entertainment vendors and will feature live entertainment,  a DJ, classical Indian dances, Bhangra and much more.

The event takes place at Nathan Phillips Square and will run from noon to 10:00pm.
