Jay Z's Mother Gloria Opens Up About Coming Out To Jay Z And Family

Through the years Jay Z has kept his mom very close whether it’s in lyrics or on red carpets. On the album 4:44 however,  he put the spotlight on his mother Gloria even more in an extremely positive way, revealing that she is a lesbian.

In an episode of the DUSSE podcast, Gloria herself discussed her sexuality, revealing that she was excited about Jay Z’s song ‘Smile’ and all of the positive feedback it’s received so far.

Jay’s mom discussed fighting back against negativity she’s received over the years:

“My haters are my motivators.. I do things that make them hate me.. not in a negative way.. I do positive things”

She also talked more in depth about why addressing the speculation about her sexuality head on was important:

“I’m tired of all of the mystery.. I’m going to give it to them.. Now that I told you, what do you have to talk about? Now you can talk about the phenomenal things I do”

Gloria Carter also shared that she’s now being asked to do guest speaking for LGBTQ groups, and she’s excited to be a positive role model for those starting their coming out process.
