Just recently, Demi Lovato visited BBC Radio 1‘s Breakfast Show where she discussed her new album Tell Me You Love Me and her upcoming documentary with host Nick Grimshaw.

Demi says that for her, she doesn’t want to ‘portray herself a the ‘perfect’ pop star instead, she wants her fans to look up to her in time of need, through tough times’.

Demi told Nick, “There are still pop stars who seem perfect and I want to be one who seems real.  If anyone is struggling with something, they have someone to look up to and think ‘I can get over it.”

Her upcoming documentary, Simply Complicated will for sure address some of the constant Demi has to battle with on a daily basis.  In the past however, Demi has always been open to her fans about her addiction problems and also her mental health issues.  “I touch on some things I still struggle with today.  I’ve talked a lot in my past but I talk about what I deal with today.”

For Demi, because she began her career at a very young age, that led to her being ‘mean’ to people around her during her teenage years.  This was all due to her work schedule and the pressures of fame.

Demi explains, “I used to be a diva, I was so difficult to work with.  I was so mean. I went through so many assistants but then I got sober and was nice. Now I’m a totally different person.  I think I was just unhappy. I was working so much, I think I was 17, where I was just working ridiculous hours and it wasn’t by choice.  It was working under a machine, but now I’m so happy and I have fun with everything.”

And nothing has changed much in regards to her scheduling.  Demi admitted to Nock that just recently, she performed in New York and Las Vegas IN THE SAME DAY and then flew to Germany for more work again, IN THE SAME DAY!!  According to Demi, she now knows how to manage her time is surrounds herself with people she likes.

Demi says, “I’ve woken up and not known what country I’m in; I just ask someone on my team.”

And if that wasn’t enough, Demi says her team keeps her laughing and she makes time to focus on herself, “Sundays are my days when I don’t work out.  I’m super lazy and I just veg out on the coach.”
