It was on March 19 that Fifth Harmony would break the devastating news to all of their Harmonizers that the group has decided to ‘pursue solo endeavours’.  “Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X Factor, we’ve realized just how far we’ve come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever.  We’ve really had one hell of a memorable journey together and can’t begin to express our gratitude to y’all for coming along with us on this wild ride!”

Talking with Entertainment Tonight, 5H member Normai Kordei dished on her upcoming solo album (which is currently in the works) and her latest single, a collaboration with Khalid called, ‘Love Lies’.

Normani explains that there is always pressure whenever you release a solo track, “It’s always kind of scary, especially because for the past six years, Fifth Harmony’s all we’ve ever known.  So, every time we put something out individually, it’s like, ‘Oh shoot! All eyes are on me!'”  Normani also says that the songs on her upcoming album will highlight her experiences in the industry and being a part of a girl group, “Honestly, I feel like I’ve experienced a lot in the last six years, so I feel like just getting all of that out. Whatever comes to mind, whatever I’m going through at the moment.  I just want this to be an album that completely represents who Normani is. And for some people, it may be the first time.”  As of right now, Normani has collaborated with The Monsters and the Strangerz, Victoria Monet and a few others for her album.

It wasn’t too long ago that Normani and Khalid collaborated on ‘Love Lies’.  She shares, “It’s cool, because Khalid and I have been friends for a minute now. It’s not necessarily an A&R [executive] or somebody saying, ‘Hey, you! I’m sticking you in a room. Go make a dope record.’  It’s just two genuine friends making music for the sake of the art.”  Normani continues, “I remember him telling me, he was like, ‘Yo, I want this to be my favourite song. Let’s not even go into it trying to create a hit. If it’s gonna be, it’s gonna be.’ But it’s genuinely my favourite song at the moment right now and that’s like, my proudest moment.  When I can listen to a record over and over again.”

And what about Lauren Jauregui? Playboy recently caught up with Lauren where she spoke about Fifth Harmony and where she is in her life, today.  Lauren says, “We tried our best to be ourselves, [but] we were also adolescents, so you have to think about who you were at that age and being thrown in front of cameras.  When you’re really disconnected from who you are and you’re ashamed of it, you can write and tell a story, but you can never really tell your story.”

Lauren even added that her goal is to eventually change her ‘fans’ perspectives on social issues’, “It’s so crazy how little people know about what they can do, about their rights, what they’re putting into their bodies and everything that’s going on globally.  I believe that art is the core of what starts revolutions.”

Fifth Harmony began their journey in 2012 on season 2 of The X Factor.  As a group, they released three studio albums and have eleven hit singles including ‘Work From Home’ and ‘Worth It’.  In December of 2016, Camila Cabello parted ways with the group to pursue her own solo career and now almost two years later, the group has made the same decision.
