“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” the statement from his representative reads. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

Avicii had publicly suffered from several health problems for years, including acute pancreatitis. While no further details about his death are known at this time, there has been a huge outpouring of support and sweet messages for the late DJ.

I was saving this for a rainy day, as a celebration, but the day has come and we mourn him. History, I was part of the history he made. The young and eager, musically gifted, shy, teenager that I got to know, and train in music. And today marks a dark day in the history of dance music. Something I saw and called a few years ago: He’d be the first to die a rockstar death in dance music. To be a young artist, sky rocketing to his heights, schedules and stress he did, is no joke. There’s many out there that struggle from stress and pressure. And stress is a killer. What we should learn is to signal it and to talk about it. And enjoy life, while we can. It’s so precious! Every single second you’re here is a blessing, because, before you know it, it’s gone. Thank you Avicii, Tim, for the music and incredible melodies. Songs that will touch our hearts and will unite us forever. May you get the calm you deserve. We’ll miss you ?? PS. Shout out to @mightyfools who are throwing in the towel today. They’ve been super open about it on their FB. This is what we need to be aware! And then possibly fix schedules, pressure, physical health and mental health! #RIPAvicii
