This month’s ‘One to Watch’ artist is Dermot Kennedy and ‘Power Over Me’ is his brand new record!

‘Power Over Me’ was written by Dermot along with Koz and Scott Harris.  Dermot is a star on the rise with a few major hits already under his belt.  Records like ‘For Island Fires and Family,’ ‘Young and Free’ and ‘Moments Passed.’  Dermot even got praise from Beats 1’s Zane Lower.  Zane says, “Big, beautiful and bold, Dermot’s track ‘Moments Passed’ is a lesson in song writing” and TMRW commenting Dermot’s performance is “delivered with a burning fire from the soul”.  All three tracks including others have already racked in over 300 million worldwide streams which is huge considering Dermot doesn’t even have a studio album yet.

On discussing his new song ‘Power Over Me,’ Dermot explains, “The whole song started with just that one idea, that sole lyric of ‘you’ve got that power over me’. The idea of being totally bewitched by somebody, to be totally under their spell, in a really good way. Just totally enamoured.”

According to RTE, “The Dubliner’s song Power Over Me has generated over 300m global streams and 2.5m monthly listeners on Spotify alone.  His May 2019 tour has been sold out at O2 Academy Brixton, Manchester’s Albert Hall and four nights at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre.  He is part of YouTube Music’s ‘Ones to Watch 2019’, the first-ever artist spotlight list from the music platform which predicts the hottest new acts.”

 

Dermot will also be playing at this year’s Coachella Festival.  Dermot tweeted, “I’m playing Coachella! This is surreal.  A dream come true.  See you soon, California!”

 

 

Dermot is currently on a 42-date tour, with well over 75,000 tickets already sold!
