In her new collaboration with Victoria Monet called ‘Monopoly,’ Ariana Grande sings, “I like women and men (Yeah).  Work so f****n’ much, need a twinny, twin, twin.  How you hit the club when you barely got in? Then we hit the bank, making them investments for the win, oh.”

As PEOPLE writes, “The song, which compares girls to the board game Monopoly in which players buy and trade properties to determine who is the richest, includes a line in the post-chorus in which both Grande and Monét sing: “I like women and men (yeah).””  Hours after the song’s release, fans began to dissect the lyrics and are now questioning Ariana’s sexuality – all because of that one line.

However, back in 2018, friend and up-and-coming artist Victoria Monet publicly announced she was bisexual.  She tweeted, “I want everyone to know that I’m single (since people wanna pretend I’m not) and make imaginary rules for me.  I secretly and respectfully went through a difficult breakup this summer but enough is enough.  I also like girls.  Thank U, Next.  Bye.”  Afterwards, Victoria tweeted, “After coming out, this thanksgiving coulda went waaaay left!! But she love meeeee how I am and I’m so happy.”

A source told PEOPLE“Ariana is of course a well-known LGBT alley and this is her supporting her friends.”   Fans immediately took to Twitter and began to question Ari’s sexuality (which TBH doesn’t matter and it’s totally Ariana’s business) either way, what’s the deal?  After a fan proved she was #TeamAriana and wrote in a tweet, “Ariana ain’t gotta label herself, but she said what she said.”  Ariana responded with, “I haven’t before and still don’t feel the need to now.  Which is okay.”

‘Monopoly’ is Ariana’s latest single, a collaboration with Victoria Monet.  And in case you were wondering why Ariana continues to drop new music, Ariana explains, “It feels so much healthier and so much more authentic and rewarding. regardless of the outcome, I prefer this because it’s real and feels happy.  No games.  I love music.  I love the people I make it with.  These past few months made me fall in love with this job all over again.  So thank you so much for being down.”
