Halle Bailey Will Play 'Ariel' in the Upcoming Live-Action Remake of 'The Little Mermaid'

Looks like Disney has found its Ariel!

Another Disney favourite and classic will be turning into a live-action remake, this time, The Little Mermaid will be brought to life and Halle Bailey will play Ariel.  The singer recently tweeted, “Dream come true.”

And in case you’re wondering, ‘who is Halle Bailey?’ Halle is one-half of the amazingly talented R&B duo, Chloe x Halle.

Throughout the film, expect to hear classics from the original animated film as well as a few new original records.  The live-action remake will be directed by Rob Marshall and says this about Halle: “After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.”

In addition, Melissa McCarthy has been casted as Ursala.  No other characters have been announced.
