Marking this as their first collaboration, Shawn Mendes teams up with Justin Bieber to release ‘Monster.’

Directed by Collin Tilley, Shawn and Justin pour their hearts out as they sing about the pressures of both fame and success.  Shawn sings, “You put me on a pedestal and tell me I’m the best.  Raise me up into the sky until I’m short of breath,” while Justin belts out, “I had a chip on my shoulder, had to let it go.  ‘Cause unforgiveness keeps them in control.  I came in with good intentions then I let it go.”

Shawn previously explained it was Justin who inspired him to begin singing (Shawn was 9-years old when JB released ‘One Time’). Shawn says,  “He was Elvis to me.  To come back around and have this very human conversation with him…it feels like one of the most special songs I’ve ever wrote.”

And their sense of humour is everything! Shawn posted a photo with actor Jacob Tremblay, who played a younger JB in the music video for ‘Lonely.’  Shawn asked, “You don’t remember us taking this pic together?” Justin then replied, “This guy thinks he can beat me in hockey.”

Minutes before the release of Monster, Shawn and Justin hopped on a Live Stream to chat with their fans.

Monster is the second single off of Shawn’s upcoming album Wonder (Dec. 4).  Both Shawn and Justin will perform at the 2020 American Music Awards, happening November 22.

Well done, Shawn and Justin! You’ve made both Canada and Ontario proud!
