Toronto Patty day is on February 23rd, and if you’re curious to learn more about the mouth-watering Jamaican fare you have come to the right place! If you live in Toronto or the GTA, you’ve more than likely had a Jamaican patty. And if you haven’t, you should probably take notes because we’re going to give you a list of great Patty spots in Toronto. Then, you’ll have no excuse! We are bringing the island to you!

The Patty is a staple of Jamaica’s bold and delicious cuisine history and has its roots in Jamaican culture going back several hundred years. As Jamaicans emigrated to North America they brought the Patty with them making it a popular food choice among those living in places like NYC, Montreal, and of course Toronto. Which of course brings us to the natural question: Who has the best patties in Toronto?

(Bakery on The GO) Warden TTC Station

3276 St. Clair Ave East, Scarborough

Now, you might be reading this and saying aloud to yourself “Warden Station?” and that would be perfectly ok, because outside of Scarborough, Bakery On The Go isn’t really a household name. But ask anyone FROM Scarborough and they’ll tell you that the patties at this little shop and bakery inside Warden Station are legit and will rival any patty in the city. For extra deliciousness ask for a ‘spicy patty on a bun.

 

 

Allwyn’s Bakery

81 Underhill Drive, North York

Allwyn’s Bakery is a North York staple for fantastic Caribbean and Jamaican inspired dishes and has been in business for over 20 years. From Oxtail, Jerk chicken, and Goat curry Allwyn’s serves it all. And if that wasn’t enough, they also happen to have one of the best patties in the entire city. For a proper Jamaican patty experience, get it served on cocobread.

Randy’s Takeout

1569 Eglinton Ave West, Toronto

Right in the heart of Toronto’s Little Jamaica, you’ll find Randy’s Takeout. Specializing in Jamaican cuisine, Randy’s has been a local and GTA go-to since 1979. They’ve got all the traditional dishes you’d expect, and as luck would have it one of the best Jamaican patties in the city. Randy’s has consistently been mentioned as THE place to get the best patty in the city.

Allan’s Pastry Shop

3056 Don Mills Rd E, North York

Tucked away in the Peanut Plaza in Don Mills is a family-owned business serving up the best of Jamaica’s traditional foods like their own patties, hardo bread and spice buns! Allan’s patties have consistently ranked in the top 5 in the GTA  and their products can be found in many Caribbean stores in Toronto and surrounding municipalities!

 

 

Fahmee Bakery

119 Montezuma Trail, Scarborough

Out in the wilds of Northern Scarborough, sits the original Fahmee Bakery which has been bringing the Caribbean to Toronto since 1980.They’re patties have been a GTA staple, and chances are you’ve probably had one without even knowing it was from Fahmee’s. But the good news is, Fahmee now has locations in the west end at 222 Lansdowne Ave and 1921 Weston Road!

Patties Express

100 City Centre Drive, North York

Patties Express is famously known for its freshly baked flaky textured authentic Jamaican Beef Patties. Their bakery is 100% nut free and they sell their patties frozen by the dozen and half dozen, so once you’ve fallen in love with them, you can take them home for when ever you start craving! Patties Express has locations all across the GTA in Square One in Mississauga, in Toronto and Newmarket.  Grab a patty at the location closest to you!
