For those of you who take public transit in the city are familiar with the automated reminder that crossing over railway tracks is not only dangerous but illegal.

Indian and Sri Lanka residences are NOT taking this reminder seriously. There has been a spike in deaths while people are not only standing on active railway tracks but STOPPING to take a selfie.

Mashable explains that this issue has become increasingly worse that “the country’s railway authorities have announced they will start arresting people taking selfies on the tracks, or in front of moving trains.”

This new rule comes into affect after the passing of 28 people in Sit Lanka this past year; including a 12 year old boy, a set of brothers and a newly wed couple. Each incident occurred in different spots around the country, each time the victim stopped to take a selfie with the oncoming train and were unable to get out of the way in time.

Basically, under no circumstances is it safe to take a selfie on railway tracks.
