Cameras captured the awkward moment when Jerry Seinfeld refused to give Kesha a hug at a charity event last month in Washington. Now, the singer has opened up about the incident, admitting that she understands why the comic left her hanging.

“I felt like I was 5-years-old,” she said during an interview on SiriusXM’s Hits 1 in Hollywood . “I instantly was like, ‘Oh [no].’ I somehow ended up in my very own mini-episode of Seinfeld for like five seconds,” she admitted.

Kesha, who is a huge fan of Jerry and his 90’s sitcom Seinfeld, explained that when it comes to hugging the comic, she “should have known better”. “I’ve seen the hugging episode. That was my fault,” she told the radio host, before adding that she’s perfectly “fine” with Jerry not being a “huggy guy.”

The 30-year-old artist also admitted that the uncomfortable exchange almost made her want to stop spreading her love through hugs. “I had a moment where I was thinking to myself, ‘Maybe I should stop trying to hug everyone and attack them.’ And then I was like, ‘No. I love hugging. Hugging is magical, hugging is beautiful. It’s a beautiful exchange of wonderful soul energy,’” she exclaimed.

Kesha is busy making the media rounds in support of her new single “Praying.” The emotional track is the star’s first solo song in four years and is the lead track off her upcoming album Rainbow. The songstress recently reflected on the inspiration behind the song in post for Lena Dunham’s “Lenny” blog. “This song is about me finding peace in the fact that I can’t control everything — because trying to control everyone was killing me. It’s about learning to let go and realize that the universe is in control of my fate, not me,” wrote the singer.
