As the second opening act of the show YG  stated: “Who do you love?” To that we say, Kendrick Lamar! Why? Clearly our city has some major love for Kendrick as this is his second concert in The 6ix this summer and likely his last (*tear tear*). After seeing The Damn Tour tonight, it is easy to see why we can’t get enough of Kendrick and clearly, he can’t get enough of us either. The Air Canada Centre was a full house yet again with high energy and just “DAMN” good vibes all around.

Before Kendrick graced us with his presence on stage, the show opened with a “Kung-Fu Kenny” video that then appeared throughout the show playing out (you guessed it) a kung-fu story line. As if Kung-Fu Kenny alone wasn’t enough to hold our attention, pyrotechnics also kept all eyes on the stage at all times. Our fave feast for the eyes? The flames shooting out of the stage from behind Kendrick as he performed. You could say these were just a nod to the fact that the show was going to be LIT!

When Kendrick finally took a moment to address the crowd he asked: “Toronto, can we do this again?” To which we are certain everyone in the room was thinking (if they weren’t already screaming) YAAAS!

The show had countless highlights and did not disappoint. This may explain Kendrick’s comment that he “only goes 110% because tickets ain’t cheap”. Delivering on his promise, the best performances of the night included a cover of Future’s “Mask Off” and “Swimming Pools (Drank)“. These songs essentially turned the Air Canada Centre into a club on a Saturday night (dranks in hand) but jks, it was a Wednesday work night.

Mid concert and after another Kung-Fu Kenny interlude, Kendrick then emerged from a new stage in the center of the arena. He also just happened to be singing from inside a cage lit with sparking lights to sing “LUST” and the proceeded to hop on top for “Money Trees” because, why not?

Saving the best for last, Kendrick eventually worked his way to “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and ended with “Humble”. The first time he started “Humble”, he let the audience join in on (and essentially take over) an epic sing along of it. He then proceeded to sing the song again solo because… we did pay the big bucks to hear Kendrick and only Kendrick sing the song we waited all night to hear.

Proving he may not be so humble after all, Kendrick finished the night by returning to the stage for an encore with his track, “God”. Although one of his more mellow tracks, it was a nice cool down after a night filled with nothing but hot tracks.
Kendrick did promise the crowd mid-concert that “The Kung-Fu Kenny Show will be the livest experience of your life”, and “DAMN”, he sure didn’t lie! Tickets may not be cheap as you mentioned Kendrick, but seeing you in concert tonight, priceless.
