Ethan Katzberg, hailing from Nanaimo, B.C., secured Canada’s first gold in men’s hammer throw with an impressive performance. His winning throw outdistanced the competition by 4.15 meters, marking the largest margin of victory in the event since the 1920 Antwerp Games.

At just 22 years old, Katzberg is both the reigning world champion and now an Olympic champion. He shared that his passion for the Olympic Games began in 2010 when Vancouver hosted, sparking his realization of “what sport could be” as he watched as a child.
