Executive Producer Dan Cohen chatted with Yahoo! about what fans can expect from Season 2 of the breakout Netflix series, Stranger Things.

He said, “We’ll be doing more than just a rehash of Season 1. We’re coming back with a few new characters, expanding storylines and mythologies, so it’ll feel like the stakes are raised and more is going on and really delivering on the promise and pushing for more. We want a sequel that feels like it’s bigger and badder and darker, while answering more of the questions and getting deeper into what’s going on. [The Duffer Brothers] want it to be that great sequel that is satisfying and yet expands the world.”

In another interview, (this one with The Hollywood Reporter), Executive Producer Shawn Levy revealed that Season 2 will see at least three new characters introduced to viewers.

He said, “there’s definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost. Like the show itself, [there will be] multi-generational new characters and really, really intriguing ones.”

The three characters (Max, Roman and Billy) were each described by Levy in The Hollywood Reporter article:

MAX: “A tough and confident 13-year-old [girl]… with a complicated history and a difficult relationship with her stepbrother, Billy.”

ROMAN: A 30 year old man who is “outsider who doesn’t know how to connect with people. After growing up homeless with a drug-addicted mother, he or she suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since.”

BILLY: A “muscular, overconfident 17-year-old. He’s so captivating and edgy that there are rumors flying around that he killed someone at a school he attended in the past.”

No word on when Season 2 will be released on Netflix, and no word whether actress Millie Bobby Brown (who played ‘Eleven’) will be back.
